The Morro Project Team

Meet the Morro Project Team

Our initial ideas team was Marcos, Anne and Jan. Next came Juliette who plans to build a climbing wall, and then Kev who designed and built our project website. Marcos lived on Morro for 6 years and set up a Samba Reggae percussion project called Tribo, before relocating to the UK and setting up another Tribo band there. He trained from an early age with blocos in Salvador including Timbalada. Anne is an events manager working for Cisco. Jan is British, a project manager by profession, and has been learning percussion from Marcos for 7 years and is co-director of Tribo. Having experienced the joys of samba reggae and understood the important history of its creation, they want to help ensure the locals also enjoy its many benefits. Kev is British/Turkish and has worked as an IT professional for over 30 years. Once we arrived on the island in November, Marcos engaged the services of a variety of local workers. Tunga and Henrique cleared the land of vegetation with machetes and a little help from Marcos and Jan. Tunga brought down the huge tree. Brenda lent us her wifi and cooked for us. Iarra rented rooms for the builders for the foundation, Rasta and Renata
